This is an unmoderated discussion between members of Christian Fandom, and anyone else interested in joining our discussions. Topics of discussion include:
You can subscribe to the CHRISTIAN-FANDOM mailing list and manage your settings through the list management page at: mailman.swcp.com/mailman/listinfo/christian-fandom, or you can subscribe through E-mail by sending a message to <email@example.com>. In the subject or body of your message, put the command:
The CHRISTIAN-FANDOM mailing list is also available as a digest. If you subscribe to the digest you will receive one message each day (unless there are no messages that day.) This message will contain all the messages which have been posted to the CHRISTIAN-FANDOM list that day. To subscribe to the CHRISTIAN-FANDOM digest, send a message to <firstname.lastname@example.org>. In the subject or body of your message message, put the command:
You will be added to the list, and should begin to receive e-mail. You will also receive an introductory message, telling you things you may need to know later, like how to unsubscribe and so on. File this message where you can consult it later if you need to.
To unsubscribe from the CHRISTIAN-FANDOM mailing list, send a message to <email@example.com>. In the subject or body of your message, put the command:
To change your E-mail address, send a message from your old address to <firstname.lastname@example.org>. In the subject or body of your message, put the command:
Then, from your new address, send a message to <email@example.com>. In the subject or body of your message, put the command:
Or, to make things easier, you can manage your settings through the list management page at: mailman.swcp.com/mailman/listinfo/christian-fandom. If you have problems, send an e-mail to <firstname.lastname@example.org> with your old, and new, address and I will make the change. However, this is for emergency situations only and not the accepted mechanism for these changes.
This list is unmoderated, so nobody will censor or approve what you say. However, the list owner, Ronald Oakes, reserves the right to remove anyone from the list for cause. Disallowed actions on the list include:
When you first subscribe, please introduce yourself to the list by sending an E-mail to <email@example.com> with your name, your location and how you heard about us. If you wish to share other information, please feel free. However, you should be aware that if you give out your regular mail address, phone number or other information, you will be sharing this with lots of people. We would also appreciate knowing which conventions you regularly attend, and if you'd be willing to help us out in any way.
This list can also be used to coordinate, plan or announce Christian Fandom events. If you have an announcement, send it to <firstname.lastname@example.org> so that the maintainers of the web page can add these events to the Activities page.
As a courtesy to those list members with limited time for reading the list, we have instituted a practice of marking posts which are not related to the topic of the list with a flag, so that it can be filtered out if desired. The way to do this is to put "OT:" in the subject line. If you are responding to a post, but the subject is beginning to wander from the the general topic of Christianity and fandom, please add the "OT:" to the beginning of the subject line. (The colon ":" is important. Not all filters are sensitive to capitalization, and we wouldn't want to accidentally filter any message with the string "ot" in it.)
Anything directly related to genre fiction and Christianity, genre fiction, or Christian Fandom as a group is clearly on topic. Discussions that do not, or no longer have any content related to genre fiction, or Christian Fandom are off topic. Unfortunately, there is a bit of a gray area in between.
Unsolicited commercial e-mail (a.k.a Spam), and flaming are not only off topic, but are forbidden on the list. Anyone who does either will be removed from the lists by the list owner. (I will probably give anyone who is a first-time offender warning, unless they have just subscribed or never posted before).
(A helpful suggestion from the list owner: If your E-mail client can filter messages by the "Reply-To:" field, then sorting all of the messages with "email@example.com" or "firstname.lastname@example.org" in the "Reply-To:" field into a "Christian Fandom" folder can keep all of your mail from the list in one place. If you then sort that box by subject, you can read all of the messages on a particular topic together.)
