Ethan Hamilton is an ace virtual reality programmer. After twice foiling killers who attacked through cyberspace, Hamilton and his friend, FBI agent Gillette, are picked by the president to form a new, inter-agency task force to combat cyber-crime. Unfortunately, just as the task force discovers that terrorists are working on a biological weapon, inter-agency rivalry brings the project to a halt. Hamilton can't just stand by and watch the terrorists threaten the world, so he steps in personally, and soon he's over his head.

This is the third book in Scott's series about Ethan Hamilton and Mike Gillette. (The other two are Virtually Eliminated and Terminal Logic.) This one is definitely the best we've seen from him so far. The action is more realistic, and the technical issues are dealt with more accurately. There is also a nice twist, as Hamilton has to watch his back, not only because of the "bad guys", but also because of the people he should be able to count on. (February, 2000)
